74th Kawthoolei Day Celebrated in Noh Hpa Htaw Village, Warray (Win Yin) Township

The 74^th anniversary of Kawthoolei Day was jointly organized by the village community in Noh Hpa Htaw Village, Worray (Win Yay) Township, Dooplayar District, Kawthoolei.

During the ceremony, the felicitation letter from Karen National Union (KNU)-Central was presented, accompanied by musical performances commemorating the 74^th anniversary of Kawthoolei Day. Leaders from Worray Township elaborated on the origins of Kawthoolei Day and provided insights into the historical narrative of the KNU revolution.

In January 1949, a conflict unfolded between the Anti-Fascist People’s Freedom League government and the KNU. On June 14^th of the same year, the KNU formally established the Kawthoolei government, headquartered in Taw Oo. In commemoration of this historic event, every June 14^th, Karen people across various regions of the country unite to celebrate Kawthoolei Day.
