Opening Remarks of the PPST Leader General Saw Mutu Sae Poe at the 24th PPST Meeting

Mingalarbar, greetings to everyone. Firstly, I’d like to extend my thanks to the leaders and representatives and the implementation partners of the NCA, New Mon State Party and Lahu Democratic Union for your participation in the 24th PPST Meeting.

This meeting will focus on the review of the results of the third session of the Union Peace Conference – 21st Century Panglong. Respective organizations will share their analysis and review for discussion which will be followed by the discussion on the positions we will take in the future.

Therefore, we will discuss the presented facts and views to identify a common position, based on which, we will define our future workplan and activities. Through the current informal discussions, we will try to reconcile the deep divisions in the political ideologies and standings among us. In other words, we will negotiate to reach common goals and common standards.

As the NCA-S EAO Summit will be organized after this meeting, it is important to reach common agreements and position in this PPST Meeting.

I’d like to encourage everyone to discuss actively and openly and work together for the sake of peace. I’d like to conclude my remarks with the request for everyone to implement a dialogue process based on the goal of national reconciliation for the emergence of a peaceful, equal and open society. Thank you all.
