Officials from the Karen National Union's Organization and Information Department attended the 6th Congress of the Central-level Karen Youth Organization (KYO) held from January 3 to 8, 2023.
Dignitaries, including Padoh Saw Hla Tun (Joint General Secretary (2) of KNU), Padoh Saw Gipsy (Joint Secretary of the Department of Organization and Information), Tharamu Naw Paw Wah, Lieutenant Colonel Saw Moses (the 24th Battalion Commander of the Karen National Liberation Army), Padoh Naw Shee Wah (Head of Hpa-an District’s Organization and Information Department), and Padoh Saw Wah Htee (Judge of Lu Pleh/Hlaing Bwe Township), attended the opening ceremony of the Congress, which commenced on the 3rd of January.
During the subsequent days, under the leadership of Padoh Saw Gipsy, officials from the Central KNU’s Organization and Information Department, including Khaing San Shwe Myint, Naw Eh Paw Wah, and Saw Hsa Lah Mu, actively participated in the congress, offering guidance and suggestions.
The Congress saw the amendment of the KYO Constitution as a preliminary measure, which received approval. Additionally, the 6th Congress witnessed the election of 11 new leaders to replace those from the 5th term, and the adoption of the 21 agenda items of the KYO.
The event was attended by a total of 120 individuals, including relevant leaders, technical support professionals, representatives, observers, and regional security officials. The Congress, held successfully in Hpa-an District, marked a significant step forward.
