Karen Women Organization (KWO) Held the 9th Congress in Moo Township

The 9th Congress of the Karen Women Organization (KWO) took place in Moo (Mone) Township, Kler Lwee Htu (Nyaunglebin) District, from September 19 to 22, 2023.

52 Karen women leaders and representatives from 10 villages/tracts attended the Congress of the Karen Women Organization. The nine executive committees were given the roles and responsibilities of the elected officials by the congress.

The elected women leaders then took the oath of office, reviewed the work they had done over the preceding two years, and decided on their objectives for the next two years. The Congress appointed nine executive committees and delegated tasks to them.

The nine elected executive committee members are:

1.    Naw Hay Blu Paw – Chairperson

2.    Naw Eh Th’Yu Hser – Vice Chairperson

3.    Naw Ku Eh Paw – Secretary

4.    Naw Hser Ku Paw – Joint Secretary

5.    Naw July Paw – Head of the Organizing and Advocacy

6.    Naw Paw Eh Tah K’Paw Shee – Head of Education and Health Department

7.    Naw Ler Paw -  In-charge of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs)

8.    Naw Htee Ku Hser – Finance Officer

9.    Naw Hser Khee Lar Paw - Auditor

A training was held from September 10–18, 2023, in advance of the KWO Congress. September 19–22 was when the Congress took place.

Held in Moo Township, the KWO Congress, now in its ninth year, takes place every two years.
